The Maryland Department of Natural Resources announced the Canada goose hunting season which will run in two segments. Hunters can get licenses and permits available online, by phone, or through authorized agents statewide.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is reporting an almost identical harvest compared to the last year for the deer firearm season opener. the department says despite below-normal temperatures, hunters and junior hunters contributed to managing the deer population.

More than 180,000 trees were planted in Maryland in 2023 as part of 5 Million Trees Initiative. It brings the total for the program  to 471,890 trees

The plantings are part of an effort by state government, community programs, and individuals.
