A man is dead after falling from a raised platform at a construction site in the 12000 block of Rosedale Court Tuesday afternoon.

A child playing with a lighter caused a house fire in Lincoln Wednesday morning, according to the Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal. The fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damage but resulted in no injuries.

The Delaware Forest Service issued a statement urging people to be careful when doing controlled burns. This comes after the National Weather Service, in collaboration with state wildfire supervisors, issued a special weather statement over the weekend indicating an elevated fire risk due to dropping humidity levels and high winds across the region, including Delaware.

Thursday will be a day to honor the memory of Thomas Berry III and pay tribute to the service he made while serving as a volunteer firefighter and medical services technician. A memorial service and procession will be held in Georgetown.

At least four different fire crews responded to an early Tuesday morning fire at 321 E. Market St. The Georgetown Fire Company, Milton Fire Department, Ellendale Volunteer Fire Company, and Millsboro Fire Company received the call at 2:27 am. Google maps shows the building at that address as a two-story home.

The fire company says materials stored in the 30 foot x 40 foot manure shed at a poultry farm ignited.
