Five Indian River School District schools are being recognized nationally for giving students hands-on STEM learning experiences tied to future careers.
Georgetown Elementary School received $13,000 worth of backpacks and supplies on Tuesday, thanks an initiative led by Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rehoboth Beach.
The effort invites community members to donate essential school supplies. Organizers say a donation drop-off is available in the lobby of the Rehoboth Beach Police Department.
The school district is asking tax payers to approve a tax increase which according to the District, will cost people an average of $22.40 per month or $268.88 per year.
Lisa Hudson Briggs and Kelly Kline will retain their seats on the Indian River School Board, winning the two seats in District 1, according to unofficial results.
This spring, Sussex County Libraries are celebrating literacy with the third annual Children’s Book Festival, a gathering of authors and families on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Georgetown Public Library.
