Police departments across the country are struggling to fill their ranks, and officers in Millsboro say the growing town is no exception.

Do More 24 Delaware, a 24-hour fundraising event designed to help nonprofits raise money and connect with new donors, runs from Thursday at 6 p.m. to Friday at 6 p.m.

"The grassroots nature of this day allows everyone to be a philanthropist at a level that suits their budget," said Dan Cruce, chief operating officer of United Way of Delaware.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced that tax season will begin on January 23.

According to AAA, both Delaware and Maryland's average price for regular gas went up about seven cents from Tuesday to Wednesday. For diesel fuel, Maryland's average price went up about twelve cents while Delaware's increased by about fifteen cents.

Thirty-five percent of them say they are planning to travel more this year than last year with 60 percent of them saying their trip will be 50 miles or more.
