DELAWARE - Delaware's largest day of giving kicks off Thursday evening at 6 p.m. Do More 24 Delaware is a 24-hour giving event that showcases the important work of nonprofit organizations serving our communities. Its goal is to inspire Delawareans to come together for 24 hours to contribute what they can financially to the causes and organizations that are important to them.
This year's event begins Thursday, March 2 at 6 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m. on Friday.
Organizations seeking donations this year range from those that support the performing arts, like the Southern Delaware Orchestra and Clear Space Theatre, to those that provide housing and employment initiatives, like the Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity and First State Community Action Agency, Inc. Others support health, like the Sussex County Health Coalition and Black Mothers in Power, and the environment, like the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays.
Do More 24 Delaware uses the Delaware Gives platform to organize donations. This website allows nonprofits and donors to track how much is raised over the giving period. Additional incentives are available thanks to Do More 24 sponsors and additional external organizations like the Freeman Foundation.
Through the Carl M. Freeman Foundation, eligible nonprofits located in and serving Sussex County will share up to $25,000 through this year's Sussex County Donation Incentive Bonus prizes. Proceeds from the foundation will be awarded to the top ten participating and eligible nonprofits that receive the most donations over the course of the Do More 24 event.
Eligibility for these prizes is limited to nonprofits with offices in Sussex County and with operating budgets of less than $500,000 annually. This year's prizes range from the top prize of an additional $6,000 to the tenth place prize of $1,000.
