The Gordons Pond trail in Cape Henlopen State Park will be closed on Oct. 1 for routine maintenance and is expected to reopen that evening.

Cleaning up the coast, volunteer registration is now open for the 38th annual Delaware Coastal Cleanup. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at more than 45 sites statewide.

To celebrate, officials are hosting a grand reopening event. Mayor Randy Taylor will “serve the community” by swapping scissors for a tennis racket and hitting the ceremonial opening serve.

The Lewes Parks and Recreation Commission endorsed Kompan for the Canalfront Park playground replacement project, citing safety concerns with the current playground and highlighting Kompan's $399,785 bid, supported by a $125,000 grant, with further funding potential discussed for the project.
