Democratic leaders in the Delaware General Assembly have announced the formation of bipartisan special committees to investigate the statewide property reassessment, following mounting concern with new tax bills sent to homeowners.

The new bill seeks to provide more time between assessments.

Sussex County is nearing the final phase of a major reassessment for nearly 200,000 properties. Officials shared an update Tuesday, with the project expected to finish by next summer. 

Milton residents Dan and Carol Perrotta, along with many others, are concerned about their property reassessment notifications from Tyler Technologies. This ongoing project, the first in 50 years, has led to discrepancies for many like phantom bathrooms and unverified data, which could potentially impact future tax bills and school funding.
