Clear and bitterly cold conditions Sunday night will give way to slightly milder but still dry weather Monday across Sussex County.

High pressure brings sunshine and cool temperatures to Delmarva today before a weak system brings a chance of light snow/rain showers Tuesday, followed by quieter but uncertain weather heading into Christmas and the end of the week.

A quiet and colder pattern settles over Sussex County from late Tuesday into Wednesday as high pressure builds in behind a departing storm.

Delmarva wrapped up a frigid January, averaging 6.5 degrees below normal, with 22 days colder than average. Despite a major snowstorm dropping 8 to 13 inches, total precipitation remained 0.87 inches below average. The warmest day hit 59 degrees on Jan. 29, while the coldest plunged to 6 degrees on Jan. 23. February starts on a milder note, with no signs of arctic air for the first half of the month.
