CAMBRIDGE, Md. - A 15-year-old boy has been charged as an adult in the death of a Seaford man earlier this week in Cambridge.

On June 8 at approximately 8:33 p.m., officers from the Cambridge Police Department responded to the 900 block of Camelia Street for a report of a shooting. Police said they found Alyson Elien, 23, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Despite life-saving efforts by officers, Dorchester County EMS and hospital staff, Elien was pronounced dead at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge.

Investigators later identified the accused shooter as Jakai Wilson, a 15-year-old boy from Cambridge. He has been charged as an adult and was arrested without incident on June 10 after officers located him in the back seat of a car during a traffic stop on Feather Drive at Stone Boundary.

The gun recovered at the scene, a Beretta 9mm, was reported stolen from a car in Dorchester County just days earlier, on June 5.

Wilson was taken to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections and is being held without bond. He faces a long list of charges, including:

  • Murder first and second degree

  • Four counts each of conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree murder

  • Assault first and second degree

  • Four counts each of conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree assault

  • Armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery

  • Use of a firearm in a violent felony

  • Possession of a firearm by a minor

  • Possessing a loaded handgun

  • Possession of a stolen regulated firearm

  • Altering physical evidence in a criminal proceeding
