GEORGETOWN, Del. - A Sussex county community is reunited and asking for justice after a shooting on Saturday night at the El Nopalito restaurant in Georgetown, took the lives of 28-year-old Honorio Velasquez from Bridgeville, and 31-year-old Armando Vicente Chilel Lopez from Georgetown.
"I want justice for my son, he didn't deserve to go this way,"
said Ilvia Velasquez Soto, the mother of Honorio Velasquez.
Delaware State Police describe how the situation escalated inside El Nopalito.
"The two victims in this case were patrons of the restaurant at the time of the shooting. The two suspects that were initially kicked out with a group of hispanic males were the ones that came back in the restaurant and confronted one of the victims before another suspect shot him and then on the way out the suspect shot another round at another victim and that victim died at the scene," explained Cpl. Gary Fournier.
Police are asking for information from anyone who was at the restaurant or nearby and may have seen a grey extended cab pick up truck in the parking lot.
The owner of El Nopalito in Georgetown did not want to speak to WRDE on camera or give any statement about the incident.
Relatives tells WRDE the two victims were friends and frequently visited the place.
"Just because it is a double homicide it's people that everybody knew. The other victim, he doesn't have family around here, his friends right now we're scrambling for funds for his funeral costs," said Alan Zunun.
A call for justice leaving a small community shaken.
"I'm here to find justice. I am here to find whoever did it. Any information out there could help with the case," said Cristina Lopez, the girlfriend of Velasquez.
