MILTON, Del. - On Tuesday, Feb. 18, Milton's Planning and Zoning Commission will review the advisory report from the Affordable Housing ADHOC Committee.
The report was presented on Feb. 3 at Milton's Town Council meeting. The council unanimously voted to send the 11 page report on affordable/workforce housing to the planning and zoning commission to discuss the findings in the report.Ā
Karen Clark has lived in Milton for 18 years and says something has to be done about workforce housing.
"I feel like the average person that work in the area whether it's the outlets, restaurants and all the places that serve the community, it's really unaffordable. It's unattainable for a lot of people. Everything just gets higher and higher," said Clarke.
Wayne Lott lived in Milton in the 80s. He says he's seen a decrease in income for farmers and suggests they work together with the town to find benefits for both parties when it comes to development.
"I wish people would explore that, especially our officials within the community. Explore that people who have farm land may wish to or agree for a development on their property," said Lott.
Mayor John Collier told CoastTV "this report is the first look at the complex issue of the concept of affordable and workforce housing."
Tuesday's meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Cannery Village Clubhouse.
