LEWES, Del. — Dr. Joyce Robert, a current employee with Beebe Healthcare, has been named the new president of the Delaware Academy of Family Physicians.

Robert, MD, FAAFP, officially stepped into her new leadership role during the organization’s Annual Scientific Assembly in mid-May, held at the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Healthcare. She previously served as president-elect for the past year.

“It’s an incredible honor to represent Beebe as president of the Delaware Academy of Family Physicians and I am looking forward to working collaboratively with many of my colleagues from across the state of Delaware, who are equally committed to healthcare advancement and improvement,” Robert said in a statement.

According to Beebe, Robert is the founding program director of Beebe Healthcare’s Family Medicine Residency, launched in 2023 under the R. Randall Rollins Center for Medical Education. She has helped shape the program—from curriculum and scholarly planning to faculty recruitment and resident training.

She said the program is not only preparing the next generation of doctors but also working to address Delaware’s physician shortage.

“As physicians, we are doing our part to assure those who live in Delaware have access to high quality, comprehensive, cost-efficient healthcare,” Robert said. “We are also working to address the physician shortage in Delaware and plan to engage more medical students and resident physicians with state-level advocacy and mentorship.”
