DOVER Del.- A bill designed to strengthen emergency communication efforts in Delaware is advancing through the General Assembly.
Senate Bill 49, sponsored by Sen. Brian Pettyjohn and Rep. Valerie Jones Giltner, designates these workers as “first informers.” The goal is to ensure critical information reaches the public quickly in emergencies. The bill also includes a reorganization of Delaware’s emergency management statutes to improve clarity and usability.
SB 49 cleared committee review on March 26 and now appears on the Senate Ready List, which means it is eligible for floor debate and a potential vote by the full chamber.
