School Bus, Cape Henlopen School District

LEWES, Del. - The Cape Henlopen School District is meeting on Thursday at 6 p.m. to discuss which areas of the community will be designated to which schools in the district.

Construction is currently underway for the new Frederick D. Thomas Middle School in Lewes. The district says as of right now, over six thousand students are registered to attend the school.

Some people in Lewes believe more schools are needed for the growing city.

"It's a good thing but there's too many people, so they have to keep building schools and they have to keep things moving," says local Rene Mutschler.

The district says the middle school is on track to open by the start of the 2024 school year.
