OCEAN CITY, Md.- Tropical Storm Ophelia is making its presence known along the coast. People could be seen preparing for flooding and high winds in coastal communities.
In Ocean City, the Ocean City Fire Department was preparing a high water rescue vehicle and life jackets. Fire Chief Richard Bowers says the department has all hands on deck for the storm.
"There's areas within Ocean City and West Ocean City that are prone to flooding," he said. "We're aware those residents are aware of those. But depending on the storm surge, it could be a little bit worse than what we're expecting."
Bowers says the best way to keep yourself safe is to avoid driving this weekend- and if you see stillwater on the road, it could be deeper than you think, and drivers should avoid going through it.Â
Over in Oak Orchard, water could already been seen on the roads Friday evening- as well as people taking in plants and flags.
Tropical storm Ophelia is expected to bring high winds and lots of rain throughout the weekend.
