CoastTV Salutes - June 3, 2026
- Updated
A native of Galestown, Maryland, Preston Hastings served in the United States Army before enlisting in the Merchant Marine. Assigned to the SS Allan Jackson, he was aboard when the tanker was torpedoed by German submarine U-66 on January 18, 1942, and was lost at sea, leaving behind a wife and two children. His body was never recovered, but his courage and sacrifice in service to his country will not be forgotten. Spicer Bros. and CoastTV are honoring military personnel and first responders serving Delmarva. If you have a family member, friend, or community member you'd like to nominate for a CoastTV Salute, go to CoastTVSalutes.com.
