The Delaware State Housing Authority has announced that theĀ Housing Stability Program will end by May 30.

DOVER,Ā Del. -Ā The Delaware State Housing Authority has announced that the Housing Stability Program, which offered short-term emergency rental assistance to eligible people in Delaware facing court-scheduled eviction, will end by May 30.

The program began in August 2024 with $5 million in planned aid. It has distributed nearly $7.1 million to 1,419 households. It provided up to $1,800 per month for as many as three months. Funds could be used for past-due rent, late fees, or security deposits.Ā

The application portal will close within 30 days. The agency will continue to process applications in the order they are received until all funds are used. People who qualify are encouraged to apply soon, as funding is limited.

The program used federal money from the Emergency Rental Assistance Program, which was provided by the U.S. Department of the Treasury in December 2020 and March 2021.

Continued support depended on available funding between Aug. 1, 2024, and Sept. 30, 2025. With funds running out, the program will now end sooner.
