DELAWARE – Delaware State Parks will require surf fishing permit holders to make reservations for drive-on beach access on weekends and holidays between Saturday, May 24, and Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The reservation system will open at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20 for reservations on Saturday, May 24; at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21 for Sunday, May 25; and at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 22 for Monday, May 26. Reservations are first come, first served and will remain open until filled.

According to DNREC, access without a reservation is permitted after 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays, but vehicles must leave the beach by 8 a.m. the following day.

The reservation system will autofill vehicle information based on the surf fishing permit number entered. Permit holders can make multiple reservations for different vehicles under a single customer account.

DNREC says holiday reservations follow the same procedure, with availability opening the Thursday before the holiday. Holidays covered include Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, and Labor Day.
