GEORGETOWN, Del. - In the first week of June, nearly two dozen animals were rescued from a house in Kent County. Poor air quality and unsanitary conditions led to more than two dozen cats and two dogs to be taken from the home.

They are currently in the hands of the Brandywine Valley SPCA in Georgetown. Medical staff evaluated and cared for the animals. Some of the animals had hair loss while others needed baths, vaccines, and more.

According to the shelter, the addition of these animals includes a significant cost as Delaware's only open-access shelter. They also are the region's largest animal welfare organization who serve more than 20,000 animals per year.
