REHOBOTH BEACH, De - The DNREC Toys For Tots collection effort that began before Thanksgiving culminated on Monday afternoon at the Indian River Marina. One of the agency's marine patrol boats with Santa Claus on board delivered several boxes of toys. People were able to donate toys by placing them in large boxes at state parks and DNREC offices throughout Delaware.
"We collect them and then they get delivered to Dover," DNREC Police Parks & Recreation Corporal David Redgraves said. "Toys For Tots has lists of families that need toys and they get delivered from there."
In addition to helping Santa bring the boxes ashore, DNREC officials had an extra incentive to participate in the campaign this year. They were allowed to extend to No Shave November in exchange for toy donations.
