DEWEY BEACH, Del. — Dewey Beach will not hold its annual municipal election scheduled for Sept. 19 after the town's two incumbent commissioners were the only candidates to file for two available seats.
The Dewey Beach Board of Elections determined an election is unnecessary because no candidates other than Bill Stevens and Gary Persinger filed for the two commissioner positions. Stevens was first elected to the Town Council in 2020 and is the current Mayor.
Under Section 10(a) of the Charter of the Town of Dewey Beach and certification by the Board of Elections, Stevens and Persinger are deemed elected to full two-year terms.
