DEWEY BEACH, Del — The Dewey Beach Town Council is considering increasing the current hourly parking rate from $3.50 to $4 to help cover operating expenses and employee salaries. If approved, Dewey Beach would join neighboring Rehoboth Beach, which already charges $4 per hour.
Bethany Beach is also considering a similar increase from $3 to $4 per hour, reflecting a regional trend toward higher parking fees. Dewey Beach's free parking period runs from Sept. 16 to May 14 of the following year. During paid parking season, the town does offer free parking on Monday's for the hours of 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. (with the exception of federal holidays).
The Dewey Beach Town Council is set to discuss and vote on the proposal during their next meeting on Friday.
