GEORGETOWN, Del. - A Georgetown man is facing attempted murder and arson charges after police say he set his girlfriend on fire during an argument early Sunday morning, leaving her critically hurt.
According to Delaware State Police, troopers were called to a home on Paradise Street in Georgetown around 2:52 a.m. on April 20 for a report of a woman in distress. When they arrived, they found a 44-year-old woman suffering from severe burns across a large portion of her body. She was taken to an area hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Investigators say the victim had been in a bedroom with her boyfriend, 42-year-old Keith Morrison of Georgetown, when the two began arguing. During the fight, Morrison allegedly threw an unknown liquid on the woman and set her on fire. Police say he then ran away from the home.
Troopers later found Morrison in a nearby field and arrested him without any issues. He was taken to Troop 4 and charged with first-degree attempted murder. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,000,000 cash bond. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has also charged him with first-degree arson.
The Delaware State Police Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are continuing the investigation.
