GEORGETOWN, Del. - Georgetown's Town Council and Planning Commission will meet at 5 p.m. for an infrastructure and development workshop.
In Georgetown, you can see the continued construction of the Sussex County Family Courthouse. It's one of the newest additions to the town. Construction started in the fall of 2022 and is expected to be completed this spring.
Wynona Sheldon has lived in Georgetown for three years and says she loves it. However, she says the growth she's seen is unbelievable.
"It's just coming fast. You can't stop it, it's going to happen, but it's just been coming so quickly. I don't know if we're able to keep up or how do you keep up with it?" said Sheldon.
Town Manager Gene Dvornick says Thursday's meeting isn't to discuss any new housing developments in the town. He says it's to discuss the best ways to move forward with future developments.
"This is all informational and to make sure we're all in agreement on how important the zoning code is to comprehensive plan design standards and really share what the commission and the Town Council feel are the strengths, the weaknesses, opportunities and threats" Dvornick shared.
All are welcome to attend the meeting, though there is no public comment. The meeting will be held in the First State Community Action Agency BME Conference Room from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. FSCAA is located at 308 N Railroad Avenue.
