DELAWARE — Governor Matt Meyer (D) praised the State Senate’s unaminous confirmation of two judicial nominees on Monday: the Honorable Eric M. Davis as Superior Court President Judge and Meghann O’Reilly Karasic as Family Court Commissioner for New Castle County. Both officials were sworn in immediately following their confirmation.
“I want to thank the Delaware Senate for confirming Judge Eric Davis and Meghann O’Reilly Karasic to serve in our judiciary,” Meyer said in a statement. “Both have built careers rooted in legal excellence, fairness, and public service. Their confirmations are a win for justice, for the people of Delaware, and for the strength of our legal system.”
Meyer emphasized the importance of a strong judiciary, calling it essential to protecting rights, ensuring accountability, and building public trust in state institutions.
About President Judge Eric M. Davis
Davis previously served on the Court of Common Pleas after a private practice career. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Emory University School of Law.
As chair of the Superior Court’s Complex Commercial Litigation Division, Davis handled high-profile business disputes.
About Commissioner Meghann O’Reilly Karasic
Karasic's background is n public defense, domestic violence advocacy, and civil legal aid. She earned her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and has served in roles with the Law Offices of Women in Need and Community Legal Aid Society, Inc.
Since 2023, she has worked as an assistant public defender in Delaware, primarily representing justice-involved youth. She is admitted to practice law in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
