Rehoboth Beach Grove Park Canal Dock

The Rehoboth Beach City Council has announced the reopening of the Grove Canal Dock.

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - The Grove Park canal dock will reopen to the public, City Manager Taylour Tedder announced Monday morning, after engineering firm Wallace Montgomery green lit the move with safety improvements.

Before the dock is accessible again, crews will install mats to improve ADA accessibility where the boards meet the concrete, fix the lock on the dock’s gate and update landscaping. Tedder said the repairs should cost about $1,000, a much smaller cost compared to the initial $400,000 estimate in January.

After the work is completed, the dock will be reevaluated every 30 days to ensure it remains safe for use. However, Tedder says further evaluation on potential next steps "will be ongoing." There is no timeline on when the safety upgrades will be completed.
