BISHOPVILLE, Md. — Worcester County Public Works plans to begin replacing the Hotel Road Bridge in Bishopville in September 2026, a project that will require the road to close at the bridge for about 120 days.

According to Worcester County Public Works, signed detour routes will be in place throughout construction to help drivers navigate around the closure.

The three-span timber-beam bridge is being replaced after receiving unsatisfactory sufficiency ratings during Worcester County's annual bridge inspection program. The project is eligible for funding through the Highway Bridge Program.

A public comment period is now open, and people who live there are encouraged to submit comments through Aug. 10.

Comments about the bridge replacement project can be sent to Roads Superintendent Kevin Lynch at klynch@worcestermd.gov.

Additional information, including detour routes and a complete project description, is available through Worcester County Public Works.
