Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine, attacked by Jewish settlers in the West Bank, says she's angry that Israel's military seems to protect settlers more than those under threat. She suffered broken vertebrae and stab wounds. Israel's president and former security officials condemned the violence. Prime Minister Netanyahu, facing elections, has blamed a small group for the attacks. Rights groups report hundreds of Palestinians have been attacked this olive harvest. Levine plans to return to work, emphasizing the need for protection for Palestinians. She says the attackers haven't broken her spirit, despite her injuries.
Israeli police have arrested 10 people in connection with settler violence in the occupied West Bank. The arrests took place on Monday and followed attacks on a foreign journalist and European diplomats over the weekend. On Friday, a Washington Post photographer was beaten by settlers, resulting in serious injuries. A day later, masked settlers attacked European diplomats visiting a Christian village. The violence has drawn international criticism, with U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee condemning the attacks. Israeli police say they are collecting evidence and questioning suspects. The investigation involves the Shin Bet, border police, and military forces.
