MILTON, Del. - In response to recent considerations for transporting migrants from Texas and Florida to Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown, two local non-profits, La Esperanza and La Colectiva de Delaware, organized a discussion on Thursday at the Milton Public Library to address immigration issues in the First State.

Panelists provided insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by migrant families in Delaware, as well as the realities of the existing legal and support systems.

Bryant García, the associate director of La Esperanza, emphasized the importance of the event.

"This is just a kind of a starter to important conversations about immigrants and migrants and really to highlight to people we already have a wonderful and thriving community of immigrants and migrants in Delaware," he said. "These organizations that are here with La Esperanza continue to serve and will continue to serve them."

La Esperanza offers various services, including free immigration counseling, victim services, resource navigation, and family coaching.
