SALISBURY, Md- Creating more space for arts and entertainment on Delmarva. Right now the Milton Theater is celebrating the opening of its new theater named "Revival" in Salisbury.
The idea of a new theater started two years ago, but it wasn't the directors of the Milton Theater's idea. People with the city of Salisbury actually approached them saying, they wanted something similar to the Milton Theater in downtown Salisbury
"Really we came down and visited and felt really great about it. We saw all the renovations downtown and got excited about the synergy happening down here, so it was really easy to jump on board with them," said director of Revival and Milton Theatre, Fred Munzert.
Opening came with ups and downs. The goal was to open Revival this past winter, but was delayed because of COVID concerns and staff shortages But now, located on W. Main Street, once you walk inside, the room is filled with tables, high-tops, lights, and of course a stage front and center. AÂ new space, but a lot of the same acts you may have seen in Milton.
"The artists and agents have all been bugging us, when are you opening? We are finally opening and they are super excited about it. It's always great for an artist when a new venue opens so they have a new place to perform," said Munzert.
Great for artists, and downtown Salisbury.
"Bringing the arts to a downtown always bolsters the local economy. That is what we are planning here. Full synergy with the other businesses downtown. The foot traffic of people checking out different shows, we are hoping they check out local storefronts," said J.P. Lacap, Marketing Director of Revival and Milton Theatre.
What makes Revival and the Milton theater different is the experience. While you can get food and drink at the Milton theater, Revival has a full kitchen and bar making it more of a dinner theater.Â
There will be an open house at Revival, Thursday night starting at 6. Opening weekend also has a full lineup of shows. Revival is at 213 W. Main Street on the third floor.
