REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. — Henry Matlosz, a 23-year Disneyland veteran, has assumed the role of Public Works Director for the City of Rehoboth Beach. The city says, Matlosz's new position, which commenced recently, brings with it a wealth of experience in engineering, team leadership, budget management, and complex problem-solving.

According to the city, Matlosz's career path has been diverse, beginning with a five-year stint in the U.S. Navy, over three of which were spent aboard a fast-attack nuclear submarine. He also briefly served as a construction supervisor and owned a vending company.

In 2001, Matlosz embarked on his Disney career in Anaheim, California. Over his 23-year tenure at Disneyland, he worked across all shifts, focusing on facilities and attraction maintenance services. In his most recent role as Senior Manager for Attraction Maintenance, he oversaw a team of more than 150 employees, according to the City of Rehoboth Beach.

One of Matlosz's proudest moments during his Disney career was his involvement in the park's reopening after a COVID-19-induced shutdown lasting over a year.

As the new Public Works Director for Rehoboth Beach, Matlosz will lead several city departments, including building and grounds, fleet services, streets, wastewater, and water. Additionally, he will play a pivotal role in managing capital and construction projects. Matlosz succeeds Kevin Williams, the city's inaugural Public Works Director since 2018. Williams, who is retiring, will assist Matlosz during the transition over the next few months.

Matlosz's educational background includes a bachelor's degree in control systems engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy (Class of 1984). He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Western International University and a master's degree in environmental engineering from California State University Fullerton.
