A further investigation led officers to a Taurus 9mm handgun inside the car’s center console, according to police.

MILFORD, Del. - A Milford man faces felony charges after police responded to reports of gunfire during a large party Sunday morning and found a concealed handgun inside the man's car.

Milford police said officers were called to the 900 block of North Church Street at about 6:46 a.m. Aug. 30 after receiving reports of a large party and shots being fired.

When officers arrived, they found a group of people gathered around a running car with two people inside. Police said the driver showed signs of alcohol impairment initially.

A further investigation led officers to a Taurus 9mm handgun inside the car’s center console, according to police. Officers also found a spent shell casing on the ground nearby.

Police identified the driver as Evens Amisal, 30, of Milford. Police said Amisal initially resisted officers’ commands before he was taken into custody. (MPD)

Amisal was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon-firearm, a Class D felony; first-degree reckless endangering, a Class E felony; resisting arrest; and driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Delaware Department of Correction in lieu of $17,100 secured bail. A no-contact order was issued, and Amisal is scheduled to appear in court at a later date for a preliminary hearing.
