Park Proposal

MILFORD, Del. - Nineteen acres of vacant farmland along S. Rehoboth Blvd. in Milford is in the works to transform into a park.

81-year-old Taube Carpenter has lived in Milford her entire life. She feels a great sense of community in the city.

"I just love the people in Milford because when there's something bad that happens, it seems like the community pulls together," says Carpenter.

Carpenter wants to make sure it stays that way, which is why she has safety concerns about the park that the city plans to build on the former Sharp Farm property.

"We want to make sure that the police are checking this out constantly, because it's a good ways down, and people can be anywhere. We just want to be safe, and we have a lot of little children in this development," says Carpenter.

The concept plan shows the park will include 72 parking spaces, a playground, walkways, a bike path, and multi-use fields.

CoastTV reached out to the city's parks and recreation department for comment on the safety concerns but we haven't heard back from the department.

Economic Development Administrator Sara Bluhm told CoastTV that engineers for the project are working on site plans to present to the county. The date that they will present is unknown at this time.Â
