DELAWARE — Governor Matt Meyer has signed an executive order to create the Office of Workforce Development within the Delaware Department of Labor. The new order also reestablishes Delaware’s Workforce Development Board to oversee job training and employment programs across the state.

According to the order, the Office of Workforce Development will serve as a centralized body for coordinating state and federal workforce initiatives.

The order states that the office will work to align training programs with labor market needs, monitor workforce trends and streamline efforts across agencies while supporting access to services such as career counseling, job placement and credentialing opportunities.

The state says the Workforce Development Board will consist of members representing business, labor, government, and education.

According to the order, the board will help provide communication with new and existing businesses and identify opportunities to meet workforce needs.
