ELLENDALE, Del.— On Friday, the Southeast Rural Community Assistance Project (SERCAP) and Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester held a media availability to present a water tank to the town of Ellendale.

The tank holds 2,000 gallons of fresh water, with a capacity of 5,000 gallons of water, which families across the street in Ellendale can hook up to their homes for free. But the free hookup will only last for three to four months time, before they have to pay.

The $4.5 million dollar project was made possible through federal funding, and Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester said the state of Delaware may soon receive an additional $355 million through the Build Back Better program, which prioritizes clean water.

"To make sure that individual may have access and be able to hook up to clean water, but if they can't afford, then they still won't have.

we're continuing to work and we'll look forward to the Build Back Better, where we'll also have the full low-income water customer assistance program," Congresswoman Blunt Rochester said.
