Pedestrian Killed

A preliminary investigation found the man was walking along Snow Hill Road when he was struck. Police say the driver of the car stopped and stayed on the scene.

SNOW HILL, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a deadly crash that killed a 69-year-old man early Friday morning along Snow Hill Road in Worcester County.

The pedestrian was identified as Dehart Herbert Lamb Jr., of Snow Hill. Emergency medical services personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, according to Maryland State Police.

Troopers from the Berlin Barrack were called around 4:21 a.m. to Route 12, also known as Snow Hill Road, near Carmean Road after reports that a person had been hit by a car.

A preliminary investigation found that Lamb was walking along Snow Hill Road when he was struck. Police say the driver of the car stopped and stayed on the scene.

Investigators said they do not believe impairment played a role in the crash.

Deputies from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from Pocomoke City Police and Snow Hill Police, helped with the response. Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration crews assisted with closing the road during the investigation.

All lanes have since reopened. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
