SBY FIRE

SALISBURY, Md.- Two cats and a dog were killed after a house fire in Salisbury Sunday morning.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal, it happened around 10 a.m. on Russell Avenue. The owner was identified as Jim Berkman, Salisbury University's men's lacrosse coach.

The Fire Marshal's report states that a passerby discovered the fire, which began in the living room. The cause is still under investigation.

In addition to the pets dying in the fire, authorities say two firefighters suffered minor injuries. Monetary damages were estimated at $250,000.
