PRESTON, Md. - A two-story house on Newton Road in Preston was heavily damaged by a fire Monday afternoon.

According to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal, the fire was reported by the home's owner. Officials say it was an accident, caused by the owner's use of a propane torch to burn weeds near the home.

About 55 firefighters responded. Damage is estimated at $350,000.
