MILFORD, Del. — A Selbyville man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that left a Milford man badly hurt during a Juneteenth celebration, according to Delaware State Police.
Investigators said 23-year-old Jashaun Johnson was identified as the person involved in the shooting, which happened June 19 in the 200 block of Valley Drive in Milford. Milford Police said officers responded around 11:13 a.m. for reports of shots fired and found a 22-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was said to be in critical condition.
After further investigation, DSP secured an arrest warrant for Johnson on June 21. With help from the U.S. Marshals First State Fugitive Task Force, Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team and Smyrna Police Department, Johnson was taken into custody without further trouble July 9 in Smyrna.

Johnson has been charged with attempted murder in the first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and criminal mischief over $1,000.
He had a presentment through the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Department of Correction on $551,000 cash bail. A no contact order was issued between Johnson and the victim. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date.
