MILTON, Del. - Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding will be offering an 8-week-program for veterans in April.Â
SDTR says the program will be offered from April 18 through June 13 every Friday from 10 a.m. until noon. The goal of the program is to promote the health and well-being, while connecting with other veterans across the community. This program has ran previously, as seen in CoastTV's Coastal Connections.
Some of the benefits offered by the program according to SDTR includes learning basic horse-care and groundwork skills, gaining hands-on interaction with the horses and working with a positive community.Â
There is no cost to attend, but SDTR says veterans must register in advance. They can contact Kelly Boyer, Program Director of SDTR, at (302) 644-1920 or via email at kelly@sdtrhr.com.
Founded in 1988, SDTR is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization with the mission to improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of children and adults living with disabilities through equine-assisted services in a supportive environment for riders and their families.
