SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. - Mexican restaurants across Sussex County are celebrating Cinco de Mayo with festive food and drink specials to mark the occasion.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Although it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, it has become a widely celebrated occasion in the United States, especially through Mexican cuisine and cultural events.
La Tonalteca Mexican Restaurant, with locations in Milford, Millsboro and Rehoboth Beach, is offering 20-ounce domestic beers for $4, lime margaritas for $5.99 and house tequila shots for $4.

A group of ladies went to La Tonalteca Mexican Restaurant in Millsboro for lunch.
"People came dressed like Mexicans," said José Luis Castillo, a waiter at La Tonalteca. "We love it here because people come, share and celebrate with us."
Meanwhile, Tacos Chabelita in Laurel is serving five tacos featuring asada, al pastor, barbacoa, tinga and chorizo for $10 and taking $2 off all burritos.
