SELBYVILLE, Del. -Â Police have identified the woman who died after a shooting in Selbyville Saturday night as 21-year-old Abriana Ingram of Milford.
Police say it happened in the parking lot of a strip mall at 36334 Dupont Blvd. shortly before midnight. Upon arriving at the scene, troopers say they discovered multiple shell casings in the parking lot and saw multiple cars driving away.
Shortly after the initial response, the troopers received reports of a 21-year-old Milford woman at a nearby hospital who had been shot. A second victim, a 30-year-old woman from Seaford, was also shot and taken to the hospital, but is okay.
Police say preliminary investigations have revealed that the incident was linked to a Halloween party hosted by a business within the strip mall. At some point during the event, troopers say a disagreement escalated into a fight, prompting organizers to instruct the partygoers to disperse. The altercation spilled over into the parking lot, where an unidentified suspect brandished a handgun and began firing.
Tragically, police say the two victims were not involved in the altercation itself. Ingram was attempting to reach her car when she was struck in the upper torso, while the 30-year-old victim was inside her car when it was hit by gunfire. After the shooting, the crowd dispersed, and the unidentified suspect ran away.
