Deer in Delaware

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - A 67-year-old Maryland man is in critical condition after hitting a deer while on a moped Sunday evening.

Delaware State Police say the accident occurred near Holland Glade Road and Sandalwood Drive in Rehoboth Beach. The intersection is right next to the Junction and Breakwater trail, where wildlife is often seen.

Police say the moped overturned and slid a short distance, and that the driver was thrown off. He was not wearing a helmet.

Medics were dispatched around 6:45 p.m. Sunday night. The man was flown to a trauma hospital and admitted in critical condition.
