The Delaware Public Service Commission voted July 1 to approve an interim electric rate increase for Delmarva Power customers that will take effect Thursday, July 9, while commissioners expressed hesitation as they considered newly passed legislation.

Delmarva Power has proposed expanding its Delaware energy efficiency programs from 2027 to 2029, offering new and enhanced tools aimed at helping customers lower energy use, reduce utility bills and support the state's energy goals.

Delmarva Power has filed its annual Standard Offer Service and Renewable Portfolio Standard rates with the Delaware Public Service Commission, outlining higher electricity costs that are expected to impact customers starting June 1, 2026.

Delmarva Power is seeking to raise its electric base rates by $67.8 million, marking its third rate hike request in five years. The application was filed Dec. 9, with the Delaware Public Service Commission. 

DOVER, Del.– Two major natural gas companies in Delaware are asking to raise rates, which could increase monthly bills for customers.
