The Water and Wastewater Division of Public Works in Worcester County will begin its semi-annual flushing of waterlines in several service areas this fall.
According to the town, hydrant flushing helps remove naturally occurring minerals and sediment that build up in water mains over time. The flushing will begin in Ward 1 on April 21.
Local officials have announced that the situation is temporary and is directly related to scheduled maintenance activities in the area.
The Water and Wastewater Division of Public Works will begin its semi-annual waterline flushing program across the Ocean Pines Service Area from Oct. 15 through Oct. 31.
The Water Department will conduct hydrant flow tests on July 10, 2024, at several locations in Lewes, potentially causing low water pressure or discolored water, with residents advised to run cold water and avoid laundry during this time.
The outage is scheduled from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday and will allow crews to continue working on the replacement of the decaying State Road pump station.
