The Lewes Board of Public Works has responded to a power outage that affected the city and its wastewater treatment plant as a winter storm moved through the area.

Lewes Board of Public Works is reminding BPW customers to ensure they are registered for the upcoming board election. 

DNREC has issued a violation notice to the Lewes Board of Public Works after a system failure at the city’s wastewater treatment plant caused an internal overflow of 12,000 gallons, though none of the spill reached the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal.

Fourth Street in Lewes will be closed Monday, Sept. 22, as utility work gets underway, according to the Lewes Board of Public Works.

On June 26, the Lewes BPW discussed the fear for its electrical infrastructure as Lewes BPW President, Thomas Panetta, said how coastal storms are coming sooner.
