Sussex County and Delmarva beaches brace for gusty winds Wednesday as a cold front sweeps through, followed by another system bringing rain and potential wintry precipitation later in the week.
Delmarva will experience a fair and dry weekend as strong high pressure dominates through Sunday. Increasing clouds Sunday will usher in a shift toward unsettled weather, with potential for showers and Sunday night into Monday. Temperatures will rise into the 50s and 60s early next week ahead of a cold front, followed by another low-pressure system later in the week.
A shift to a southerly flow will bring warmer temperatures and mostly dry conditions to Delmarva on Monday and Tuesday, with highs reaching the low to mid-70s before a weak cold front approaches midweek.
An onshore flow and approaching warm front will bring more clouds and slightly warmer temperatures to the Delmarva region through Thursday. A brief chance of sprinkles or light showers exists Tuesday night, with high temperatures peaking in the 70s by Thursday.
High pressure will continue to dominate Delmarva’s weather through the weekend and into next week, bringing dry conditions and seasonable temperatures. The Delmarva Peninsula remains in a severe drought, now marking 27 consecutive days without measurable rainfall. A cold front passing through on Friday night and Saturday will bring cooler air, but little chance of precipitation. Frost may develop in some areas overnight as temperatures dip into the 30s, while gusty winds and dry conditions increase fire weather concerns.
