OCEAN CITY, Md. - The angler who caught the first white marlin of the season, Joe Huk, has received $5,000 for his catch, according to the town of Ocean City.

Officials say Huk caught the fish on Friday, June 2 at around 1:30 p.m., along with Vessel Captain Chris Huk and First Mate Tanner Virden. Their ship was called the Restless Lady II in the Baltimore Canyon. The town says the marlin was released after it was caught.

“Ocean City is proud to be the White Marlin Capital of the World,” commented Mayor Rick Meehan. “The first white marlin catch of the season is a symbolic start to the fishing season and hopefully was a sign of many more for our offshore fishermen this summer.”
