BETHANY BEACH, Del. - On May 6, Bethany Beach Police responded to a home on Evans Avenue after an Airbnb owner reported a guest punching holes in the walls. Officers had been called to the same address the night before for a loud party.
Officers say a 21-year-old female from Laurel, Nijae Harris, came to the residence and threatened to stab other guests with a knife. That was in addition to cutting the clothes of guests with a pair of scissors. During the altercation, Harris struck another guest with an object, causing damage to their eyeglasses. Guests of the Airbnb fled the residence for their safety. Police say Harris remained inside the rental, causing further destruction to the property, as well as guests’ personal items. She fled the residence prior to police response.
Attempts to contact and locate Harris were unsuccessful. Warrants were obtained through the Justice of Peace Court #7 for the following crimes:
- Terroristic Threatening x3
- Offensive Touching
- Criminal Mischief under $1,000 x2
Anyone with information on Harris’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Bethany Beach Police Department at 302-539-1000.
