Carlos Oliveras wins Laurel mayoral race

Voters in Laurel, Delaware, elected Carlos Oliveras as the town’s next mayor, according to official results released by the town.

LAUREL, Del. - Voters in Laurel, elected Carlos Oliveras as the town’s next mayor, according to official results released by the town.

The election took place Thursday, March 27 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Laurel Fire Hall. Oliveras received 112 votes, defeating incumbent John Shwed, who got 105.

Donald Holden won the council-at-large seat with 158 votes. Laura Denise Mackey received 56. In Ward 3, incumbent Jonathan Kellam retained his seat with 72 votes, while Gregory Harris received 13.
